A modular kitchen is one of the biggest decisions in any home interior, and usually the first question is simple: what will it cost? In Coimbatore there is no single price, because a modular kitchen is built around your space, your layout and the materials you choose. This guide breaks down exactly what goes into the cost so you can budget with confidence.
What decides the cost of a modular kitchen?
Five things move the price more than anything else.
1. Size and layout
Cost is usually estimated per running foot of cabinetry. A compact straight or L-shaped kitchen uses fewer units than a large U-shaped or island kitchen, so the shape of your kitchen has a direct impact on the total.
2. Carcass (cabinet body) material
The carcass is the frame that does the hard work for years. Options range from moisture-resistant MDF to BWP or BWR plywood and HDHMR. In a humid climate a good moisture-resistant core is worth paying for, because it keeps your kitchen solid long after the finish still looks new.
3. Shutter finish
The shutters are what you see and touch every day. Laminate is durable and cost-friendly, acrylic gives a high-gloss mirror finish, and PU or membrane finishes sit at the premium end. Finish is often the single biggest swing in price between a budget and a premium kitchen.
4. Hardware and accessories
Hinges, channels, tall units, magic corners, cutlery trays and soft-close mechanisms add both convenience and cost. Reputable hardware brands last longer and feel better, a difference you notice every day.
5. Countertop and appliances
Granite, quartz or a solid-surface countertop, plus a chimney, hob and built-in appliances, are usually costed separately from the cabinetry.
Budget, mid-range or premium?
As a rough guide, kitchens fall into three bands: a practical budget build, a mid-range kitchen with better finishes and accessories, and a premium kitchen with high-gloss shutters, branded hardware and a designer layout. Where you land depends on the choices above, not on a fixed sticker price.
Why factory-made kitchens give better value
At Skillstech, the bulk of your kitchen is manufactured to exact dimensions on German HOMAG machinery at our own Neelambur factory, then assembled and finished at your home. That means tighter joints, hydraulically pressed laminates that will not peel, and a consistent finish every time, with installation in a fraction of the time of on-site carpentry.
